I spend a lot of time on the road. I guess it is part and parcel of living regionally. I honestly don’t mind driving. In fact I enjoy it. I mutter endlessly, I sing like Adele, I sort out all my problems momentarily in my head or I just let my mind meander. Today I had to go to Glen Innes and back for work (2 hours) and Aratula and back to pick up my kids (5 hours). So I am feeling a little weary. Though content. There were two things that really struck home during my time on the road today. The first is that I live in a truly beautiful part of the world. I have lived here now for almost 4 years and I still cannot quite fathom how I was transformed from being a city girl with the sea in her veins to a country girl with a genuine love for a town with no traffic lights and a land of four seasons.
The second thing that I realised was that I don’t need anything. Do I want things? Sure! I would love a higher income so I didn’t have to stress about bills and I could travel for 3 months of the year with the kids. I would love a bigger car with purpose built seats for Kevin and Rosie. I would love lots of things. But when I really analysed it at some stage between Dalveen and the Gap, I could not come up with anything extra in my life that was a need, a dire necessity. I genuinely have everything I need. I was picking up Archie and Rissie and we were were heading home to Kevin and Rosie and the last of the Mohican chicken family. We have a cottage that we call home, it is not too big, not too small but just right. We live in a town that in the last two weeks has gone from Autumn to Summer and back again, and is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. As the kids got into the car, I felt truly blessed. My cup runneth over.
Day 5 of my challenge. If I had not put this challenge out there to make myself accountable I would be heading to bed right now. Instead I am waxing lyrical. I love Smoothie Bowls. I don’t think my creations are anywhere as near as beautiful as the ones I see regularly on all forms of Social Media but I am going to nail it one day – I shall probably experiment with a few more over the next 24 days. The whole idea is to have a beautiful thick smoothie topped with ingredients to create a substantial meal with a bit of texture. They are also really easy and you are only limited by your imagination and what is in season.
